Jesse Gobeli will lead "South Sui" with a duration of 4 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at the Rainbow trailhead at 6:30. We will follow hidden trails to the headwaters of Rainbow creek, where we will ascend directly to the summit of South Suicide. Our return trip will follow either the east or west ridge for a loop route, depending on the desires of the participants.
E. Marquez will lead "North Suicide" with a duration of 4 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at 6:30 pm at the Falls Creek Trailhead on the Seward Highway. We will ascend by trail and cross country to the ridge above Windy Gap. We will not ascend South Suicide Peak but will instead descend to Windy Gap via a sheep trail. Following an ascent of North Suicide Peak we will reverse the route.
E. Marquez will lead "Tortilla Chip" with a duration of 4 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at 6:30 pm at the Windy Corner trailhead on the Seward Highway. The route will follow the Turnagain Arm Trail for a short distance and will then proceed steeply up to Sheep Thrills Ridge via bushwhacking and scrambling. From there we will proceed to a high point (the “Tortilla Chip”). Ultimately, we will drop down to Falls Creek and back to Windy Corner.
Lee Helzer will lead "McHugh Peak" with a duration of 4 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at the lower parking lot of the McHugh Day Use Area for a 6:30 departure. We’ll head up the standard route to McHugh Peak and descend via the same route or an alternate route.
Jesse Gobeli will lead "Bird Creek 20K" with a duration of 4 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
The route has been set for the Bird Creek 20k! Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Bird Creek trailhead at the end of Konikson Road. Participants will be delighted by cold temperatures and pillowy snow as we work our way over the gently rolling terrain past the ford site and back. There will be postholing, and delicate crossings of Penguin and Bird Creeks. The first six finishers will receive a prize.
